In the beginning...

SuSy Checker's roots lie in our experience as architects and designers, developers of building automation software, and energy efficiency researchers.

1990

Designing efficient buildings

We launched our construction start-up, Creare Engineering, with the aim of repurposing some of the building data that was becoming available via the Internet for use in infrastructure projects.

2000

Building automation

We rolled out pioneering projects that brought Internet connectivity to the shopfloor, harnessing dedicated networks, microwave links and cellular telephony to control factory SCADA/PLC systems.

2004

Multiprotocol automation and integration

Developed several structured cabling design and installations, a unified infrastructure for controlling security and BMS (building management systems) which saw use in the financial, textile, agribusiness and mechanical engineering sectors.

2006

mobiFAZ

After setting up Fazion Systems, we developed mobiFAZ as a software tool for salesforces, facilities services, data collectors and field teams. It later evolved into a full-scale solution for web/mobile automation.

2009

DataFaz DCIM

DataFaz DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) was a specialist BMS intended to improve the sustainability of datacentres. The development effort required pioneering work in the IoT and Big Data spaces along with significant initiatives in hardware and software. Elements of the Datafaz concept were later applied to building projects across the energy, media, health and aeronautics sectors.

2012

DataFaz award

DatacenterDynamics named DataFaz the winner in the 'Future Ideas and Design Concepts' category of its annual awards.

2014

DataFaz keeps evolving

DataFaz DCIM continued its evolution, leveraging IoT sensor capabilities and Cloud storage to further enhance a service offer which by now included 3D visualization, real-time plots, risk assessment, heat maps, analytical tools for energy distribution and efficiency metrics. By the end of 2014, DataFaz had been sold to a hardware manufacturer.

2016

New methods in risk analysis

SuSy Research published a paper detailing groundbreaking new approaches in the application of risk analysis to energy distribution and efficiency using models derived from complex adaptive systems theory.

2017

COMSYSE initiative

SuSy Research launched COMSYSE, a research initiative in the field of complex adaptive systems with a particular focus on complexity theory and applications of intelligent sustainable systems models to improve robustness.
See our initiative here.

2018

SuSy Checker is born

"Hey, it's time to re-apply what we've learned about complex adaptive systems. How much can we tell about the sustainability of a building from its location? H'm, let's cross-reference some open-source data with this radical simulation... Oh, wow!" And that's how SuSy Checker was born.

2019

SuSy Checker announcement

Official launch of the SuSy Checker Project. A world first -- a free online tool that automatically scores any building for its "Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Potential".
See announcements here.

2019

SuSy Checker prototype

Proof of concept: SuSy Checker delivers its first sustainability scores.
